As much as I don't want to believe it, Hip-Hop's Hottest Couple is calling it quits. Kelis has filed for divorce from her husband of 5 years and 9 months, rap-impersario, Nas, according to VIBE.com. She is seven months' pregnant with the couple's first child.

"I can confirm that she has filed for divorce," a spokesperson for Kelis reportedly told the site on Thursday (April 30). "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."

On Thursday afternoon, attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears) filed a divorce petition on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences. Below, is a copy of the petition, which VIBE has exclusively obtained.

Grammy award-winning singer Rihanna was in Gucci’s front row last Wednesday, underlining her ties to the Italian house after shooting its first ad campaign in collaboration with UNICEF over the summer. “I give them so much respect,” the Barbados-born star said of Gucci’s charitable ways. Rihanna was on tour in Europe promoting her latest single, “Disturbia,” before heading to Australia and New Zealand in October. “Then we’re going to play around in the studio for a while,” she said. She also pointed out that her own fashion collection is still in the cards. “I’m not one to rush into anything. I want to take my time,” she said. “I can’t say when it will be released, but it’s definitely going to happen.”

We've seen underpants with ass-padding, but what about those women who want a little help shaping their derriere and yet don't want to add any extra volume? There's a void in the undergarment market, and Bubbles Bodywear has taken advantage of it: Meet the Double-O Push-Up Thong, an ass bra. "Go undercover with a license to 'shake what your mama gave you' with our new Double-O Collection!" their Website urges. The Push-Up Thong, they say, "enhances the lift, shape and volume of the derriere while also flattening the lower tummy and shaping the thigh" At $64, it's not exactly the cheapest solution to a saggy backside. At least you can probably achieve the same effect by cutting holes in your old Spanx.

H&M Comme Hard For Fall

Here's one reason to get excited for fall:

You'll be able to buy affordable Comme des Garçons threads at H&M. Yay! The September issue of W has a preview of Comme des Garcons’ collection for H&M, which hits stores in November. W describes it as "mostly black … with Japanese tomboy airs." It includes the following:

“[A] range of tailored jackets, many deconstructed, along with cropped pants, baggy shorts and a variety of skirts in stretch wool. On the perkier side are polka dot knits in jersey or merino wool, colorful shirts—some with dots—and a “showpiece” coatdress decorated here and there with dense Victorian ruffles.” We dare say we are amenable to all of that. However H&M wasn't quite so into Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo's initial advertising campaign ideas, since she didn't want to show any clothes in the images. Her usual pictures of robotic dogs by underground artists might draw in the well-heeled folk who shell out upwards of your rent for her Comme des Garçons duds just to get their edge on, but broke folks need a touch more incentive. Learning curves, Rei. Learning curves.

Gwen Welcomes Baby #2

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani gave birth to a boy named Zuma on Thursday in Los Angeles, her second child with husband Gavin Rossdale, her spokesman said.

Stefani and her baby are "happy and healthy" following the birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, publicist Dave Tomberlin said in a statement. Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale weighs 8.5 pounds, Tomberlin said.

Stefani, 38, and Rossdale, 40, have one other child, a son named Kingston who was born in 2006.

The California-born Stefani rose to fame with the band No Doubt in the 1990s, scoring hit songs such as "Just a Girl" and "Don't Speak." Her 2004 album "Love. Angel. Music. Baby." became a breakout solo hit.

Stefani and Rossdale, who gained fame in the British rock band Bush, married in 2002.

We hate legalese as much as the rest of you, but when we heard about the possibility of free makeup, we jumped headfirst into the jargon. And here's what we found out:

Department stores like Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Filene's, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue cheated consumers by making a pact that they'd only sell cosmetic products at the suggested retail price. By doing so, there is no competition between stores, no discounts, and the consumer loses out. It's called price fixing, and it's a violation of antitrust laws, if you want to sound cool. And it happened with big cosmetics brands, too! CK One, CK Be, Eternity, Chanel No. 5, M.A.C, Clinique, and Prescriptives were all involved. And more.
The news of the settlement is old hat, with judges ordering this is 2004. But now, finally, the stores and companies are paying for it. The stores are ordered to give away $175 million worth of products starting in 2009, a mere four and a half months away. Plus, they have to pay almost $24 million in attorney fees. (They're also never allowed to engage in price-fixing again, but that's pretty much a given.)

And come 2009, the giveaway begins! Don't lose out on what you're entitled to. And free makeup is free makeup. Here's how to score your own $25 worth:
1. Sign a form that says you purchased the covered products between May 29, 1994, and July 16, 2003, and you're a resident of the United States.

McQueen Hits The TARGET...maybe?

It has to be one of the most exciting fashion whispers we've heard this year, so we're hoping that Alexander McQueen's rumored capsule collection with Target's Go International initiative is indeed more than just a whisper. According to WWD, McQueen - who as well as having his own ready-to-wear collection and denim-based diffusion line has collaborated on a footwear collection with Puma and created a luggage range for Samsonite's Black Label - is in talks with the mass retailer. Though nothing has yet been confirmed by the fashion label.

We have our fingers firmly crossed.

(NEW YORK) Not only are they two American design greats known for capturing the modern woman's sensibility, Diane von Furstenberg and the late Liz Claiborne have more in common then one might think. Both were born in Brussels, a fact von Fursteberg only discovered Wednesday morning, when she and Claiborne were honored with spots on the Fashion Walk of Fame. Industry folk, including Steven Kolb, Isabel Toledo, Hamish Bowles and Fern Mallis, gathered at the Bryant Park Grill for the induction ceremony and breakfast.
This marks the first time in five years that new designers have been added to the prestigious ranks of the Fashion Walk of Fame, a project of the Fashion Center Business Improvement District. Claiborne and von Furstenberg join 24 other icons immortalized with the distinction, including Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Halston, Calvin Klein, Anne Klein and Oscar de la Renta. This year's inductees were chosen from over 100 candidates. Valerie Steele spearheaded the selection committee, which included Harold Koda, Marylou Luther Imparato, Paper's Kim Hastreiter and others.
Art Orenberg held back tears as he accepted the posthumous award on behalf of his late wife, who is credited with creating the working woman's wardrobe. "I speak for her and through her, because I am convinced she is with us here," said Orenberg, who thanked Claiborne's parents, mentors and colleagues.
Von Furstenberg was thrilled with the much-deserved honor. "A little bit over three decades ago, I came to New York with a few little dresses I had made in a tiny suitcase and a child in my belly. I was terrified of Seventh Avenue," the designer recalled. "It's an honor to get this from the very neighborhood that intimidated me so much." After the day's excitement, von Furstenberg is headed out of town for a brief break from the impending madness of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. "I'm going on vacation tonight!" she exclaimed. "I'll be on a boat, sailing away."

Smart Idea?

We weren't sure that Christian Siriano belonged on the list of the world's great creative thinkers, but after talking to him at the opening of Nigel Barker's photography exhibit "A Sealed Fate" last night, we can confirm with 100 percent certainty that he's at least in the top ten. We were chatting, naturally, about America's Next Top Model, when Siriano unleashed his creative thunder. "I don't see everything but I've seen a lot of fashion challenges and I think it would be fun to mix a little Project Runway in there," he said. "I think they should have the girls make their own clothes. They should totally do the runway and they have to put together the whole show by themselves. Like, you know, do everything with like stage set up, everything." You mean— "Project Runway Top Model," he said. Gasp! The thought gave us hot flashes.

But speaking of Runway, what does Siriano think of the current season? "Project Runway? It sucks." He wasn't impressed that the producers pulled the Gristedes card for the first challenge. "I just think it could've been a little more innovative. I actually think that some of the pieces were really creative. But last night's challenge — I thought the clothes were horrific. I think the talent level isn't close to some of the talent and designs we had on my season." Siriano says he's met some of the contestants personally (we're guessing that means he appears in this season) and finds them "interesting," but fears they're more interested in getting famous than showing their designs (coughBlaynecough). "I can't listen to somebody say 'licious' all day long to get it popular. It's not funny to me. I really just can't hear that."

Siriano is also hard at work for Fashion Week! He's showing a full collection on September 11, and has been preparing for it over the past few months (he does his production in midtown, so, you know, keep 'em peeled). "I've been working hard, have a little team together," he said. "It's gonna be a big show!"

Rag & Bone just signed the lease for their first store, slated to open in September (Fashion Week party, anyone?) in the West Village at 104 Christopher Street. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville started the label as a men's denim collection in 2001; though they had no formal fashion training, they managed to expand into full sportswear collections for men and women and become hot enough to garner fans like Gisele and Sienna Miller. I think it's about time for the boys to get a shop of their own. So look forward to seeing their bright-purple coats and plaid dresslike garments for men from their fall collection in the windows over there.

Campbell, who's known for tearing up the catwalk and chucking BlackBerry's at maids, has inked a deal to front French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent's new autumn-winter 2008-2009 advertising campaign, which is being designed by Pilati. (NEW YORK) Francisco Costa emerged triumphant at the Council of Fashion Designers of America's 2008 fashion awards, taking home Womenswear Designer of the Year award. This is the Calvin Klein Collection designer's second time winning the evening's top honor in three years.
Presented at the New York Public Library Monday evening, first-time nominees Tom Ford and Tory Burch garnered wins for Menswear Designer of the Year and Accessory Designer of the Year, respectively.Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy walked away with the Swarovski Award for Womenswear; Scott Sternberg for Band of Outsiders won the Swarovski Award for Menswear; and the Swarovski Award for Accessories went to Philip Crangi.
The night's roundup of additional honorees included Dries Van Noten, who was honored with the International Award; Candy Pratts Price, who accepted the Eugenia Sheppard Award; Carolina Herrera, who was honored with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and Mayor Michael R. Yves Saint Laurent: An End To A Legend

(NEW YORK) Yves Saint Laurent, the legendary designer who redefined fashion for the 20th century, died Sunday evening in Paris. He was 71.

The Pierre-Bergé-Saint Laurent Foundation confirmed the news, saying that Saint Laurent had died at 11:10 p.m., Paris time, at his Paris home following a battle with brain cancer. Joining the legendary couturier in his final moments were Bergé and longtime friend and muse Betty Catroux.
The reclusive French designer, a towering figure in the fashion community and beyond, retired from haute couture in 2002 following a career that spanned four decades. He was widely considered by most to be the last of a generation of skilled artisans that included Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, both of whom, like Saint Laurent, helped make Paris the fashion capital of the world.
While Saint Laurent's death has saddened the fashion community, it was no secret that he had been ill for some time. In October 2006, he slipped and fell outside a Paris restaurant during Fashion Week, suffering minor scratches on his fragile frame. Most recently, Saint Laurent was said to have entered a Paris hospital last week, where he was in a coma. As a result of his condition, he backed out of an appearance in Montreal at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for a major 40th anniversary retrospective of his work that opened last Thursday. Born Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent on August 1, 1936 in the coastal town of Oran, Algeria, the international icon grew up during a period when the North African country was still considered part of France.
Saint Laurent took over the formidable house of Christian Dior following the death of its founder in 1957 at the age of 21. Not much later, he founded his own company in the early 1960s, setting up his headquarters in the venerable Rive Gauche, or Left Bank, of Paris. It was under the auspices of his own namesake label that Saint Laurent made himself the name that continues to be carried on today by Stefano Pilati.
Perhaps his most memorable contribution to fashion were the modern pantsuits, "Le Smoking" jackets, safari jackets, and glamorous gowns that revolutionized the way women dressed and remain stylish to this day. In a period of time where pop culture was becoming a phenomenon, Saint Laurent capitalized on the economic boom of that period, when women had more economic freedom than ever with which to express their style. "I found my style through women," Saint Laurent once said. "That's where its strength and vitality comes from, because I draw on the body of a woman." In 1983, at the age of 47, he was the first living designer to be honored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.
The fashion community mourned the day Saint Laurent announced his retirement in 2002 and the closure of his Paris-based fashion house. Gucci purchased his ready-to-wear label, Rive Gauche, in 1999.Funeral services for Saint Laurent have been scheduled for Thursday in Paris, where Pilati and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are expected to attend. The afternoon service will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the Eglise Saint-Roch at 296 Rue Saint-Honoré. Immediately following, Saint Laurent will be brought to his final resting place at the designer's Majorelle Garden, which he has owned since 1980, in Marrakech, Morocco.

A "Wang" For Your Buck

Alexander Wang launched his Uniqlo collection Friday morning with a leisurely opening for friends, family, and fashion insiders at 9 a.m. Editors and stylists browsed the five-piece dress collection (while sipping Bellinis) as about a dozen young fans waited outside for the doors to open to the public at 11 a.m. Wang explained Uniqlo reps e-mailed him about a year and a half ago to see if he "might be interested at all" in a collaboration. "I replied like, 'Yeaaaaah' and ran screaming to my brother and sister who I work with, just so excited."
Wang fans should hurry to the store to score one of the dresses, all hovering around the $50 to $60 range. The collection will be replenished a few times throughout the day with about 200 more units per style. For those stuck at work, here's a glimmer of hope: They will be restocking "a really small amount" on Monday as well. Wang admitted he learned a lot teaming up with Uniqlo. "They're such a huge team, which I'm not used to. They come in and present options, fabrics to pick from, everything down to the seam. It's very controlled, very focused. I wanted to create something very classic. A lot of times high-end collaborations look very trendy, like, 'Oh, there's that dress from that low-high collection.' But I just wanted mine to be streamlined and affordable prices. Pieces you can easily mix with my regular collection too." Indeed, the dresses are done in slate grays and black, typical of Wang's emerging signature look. Why not play with more color for summertime? "I thought about it. But color for me has to be so specific."
Wang didn't have long to linger with his fans; he's off to shoot his resort look book. And then to get ready for Monday's CFDAs. He'll be going with model pal Erin Wasson. She wasn't involved at all in the Uniqlo collection, but she's a "great friend and it's good to go to those events with someone that you're comfortable with, that you want to hang out with." Asked about his nomination, Wang mentioned he wasn't nervous, just honored to be going. After, his focus shifts to his spring 2009 collection. And then … shoes! Accessories fanatics rejoice.

(NEW YORK) Jonathan Saunders has been given Target's green-light.
The British designer will be the thirteenth participant in the retailer's Go International initiative, which has included Proenza Schouler, Alice Temperley, Luella Bartley, and Erin Fetherston. Saunders' limited-edition collection of women's designs will launch in early October. Today's announcement confirms a first report in Fashion Week Daily in January that Saunders was being eyed by the cheap-chic retailer.
Saunders, who showed his namesake collection in New York during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for the first time in February, is not a household name--but that could soon change. The London-based designer, who created a capsule line for Topshop that debuted this spring, was named creative director of Aeffe-owned brand Pollini last week. It's likely that by participating in the Target initiative, Saunders will benefit from the invaluable exposure gained through Target's multi-million dollar marketing blitz that will begin this fall.

Australian fashion label Ksubi will collaborate with Kanye West's Pastelle fashion brand to create a new range of eyewear. "I love the sunnies Ksubi has produced over the years, and it's an honour to collaborate with them on this first instalment of Pastelle frames," West tells STUFF.CO.NZ. Set to launch globally in October, the range will be designed by Ksubi's George Gorrow and feature limited edition gold frames. "George is an incredibly talented designer, and I've never met anyone who knew more about sunglasses and other cool stuff," says West, who first worked with Gorrow in 2006 to create stage eyewear for his music clips.

(NEW YORK) Alber Elbaz is delving into new territory: denim. The Lanvin designer revealed to Fashion Week Daily that he's in the initial stages of creating his first jeans line with Stockholm-based Acne Jeans. "I want to bring Lanvin into their know-how," Elbaz said Monday night at the Parsons benefit and fashion show, where he presented Barneys chief Howard Socol with an honorary award. While he noted that no official contract has been signed, Elbaz remains extremely excited about the project. "What if you don't want to wear a skinny jean?" he asked rhetorically, confirming that his line will offer women a variety of options. "It's time to go back to a product that has a dream to it. I asked myself, 'What kind of jeans can I bring that will be a Lanvin jean and Acne spirit infused in one?
While detractors may be quick to mention that a denim offering may downgrade Lanvin's exquisite main ready-to-wear collection, the designer is quick to note that the jeans collection will be neither a secondary line nor a cheaper product. "It's being created out of a need, like how we don't do an entire bridal line but instead have a few pieces," he said. "It's the first of several niches I'd like to build." Specific details on the collection are still in discussion, but Elbaz added that the line, whose price points will be comparable with current Lanvin rtw pieces, should be ready for a 2009 launch.

A New Role For Liya

(NEW YORK) Steven Meisel is shooting Liya Kebede today for Italian Vogue's black model-themed issue, but when she wraps, Kebede has another gig already lined up. The Ethiopian-born supermodel will soon begin work on her third movie, an indie flick entitled Desert Flower. "It's being directed by an German-American named Sherry Horman," she said at Saturday night's White House Correspondents' Association dinner. "I'm going to Europe in June to shoot it and it's based on the autobiography of the Somalian model Waris Dirie."
Kebede plays the lead role in the $16 million adaptation of Dirie's bestselling autobiography, which traces her rise from a childhood in the Somali desert to the catwalks of the international fashion community and her role as a United Nations spokeswoman against circumcision--elements of which Kebede can relate to as a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador and founder of The Liya Kebede Foundation.

(New York) No Justice, So Why PEACE?!

Today on Friday, April 25th 2008 in the state of New York but representing every city in the US, justice was again not an adjective to describe the assessment of black men. In the case of the 50-shot massacre of unarmed groom-to-be, Sean Bell, that took place in November 2006, Detectives Gescard F. Isnora, Michael Oliver, and Marc Cooper were declared innocent of all charges by judge Arthur J. Cooperman.

How do you sit down and tell your sons/ brothers/ cousins that will grow up to become black men, that justice exist for them in their future when something like this occurs? How do you explain to a child that the police is here to serve & protect them from harm when the officers are the ones that's committing the destruction & wrong doing? YOU CANT!

Injustice doesn't even compare to what happened in that courtroom today. Inequality doesn't even begin to evaluate the way black men are perceived or treated in this world. It's not even about a black or white thing, it's about a right or wrong thing. As much as the judge kept reiterating that "carelessness is not a crime", meaning that although the officers did indeed act absentmindedly & used unnecessary force, they committed no crime, he never made quite clear what it was. I mean despite what you want to call it, when the smoke cleared: there was nothing found inside Bell's blood-splattered car but an innocent/unarmed dead man and his wounded friends. We're just off the day where Wesley Snipes was sentenced three years for not paying taxes and these so-called officers of the law gets nothing... can you tell me what's wrong with this picture?

This case flood back memories of the 1999 shooting of Amadou Diallo — an African immigrant who was gunned down in a hail of 41 bullets by police officers who mistook his wallet for a gun. The acquittal of the officers in that case created a storm of protest, with hundreds arrested after taking to the streets in demonstration. Now, in no way, shape or form do I condemn violence or believe that two wrongs make a right but what do you do when walking and talking is not enough?

My heart bleeds for all brothers around the world & believes that the fight for justice and equality will never be over.

While the principals are staying tight-lipped, there is every indication that downtown fashion label Heatherette has finally reached the end of the road.
Sources say Richie Rich is working on a fashion line of his own, to be called Rox and Riley (after his dogs, natch). Rich is also said to want to move to Los Angeles, where he is considering music and TV projects to go with a book about club kids that he is writing.
"Traver [Rains] is a great designer, and he was the one who really held it together," says a pal. "But he can't deal with Richie anymore."
This year saw the end of the label's three-year, $6 million deal with the Weisfeld Group, and in January we reported the designers had pulled out of Fashion Week.
The label no longer has a publicist, and Rains did not respond to an e-mail forwarded through an intermediary.

Rapper/producer Swizz Beatz and wife Mashonda (Kasseem and Mashonda Dean) have called it quits after four years of marriage. Swizz and Mashonda, an R&B singer, were married in 2004 and have a son, Kassem Jr., who was born in January 2007.A representative for Swizz Beatz didn’t specify the reason for the separation, but stated the split was “on amicable terms”. "Their union was one shared in love and deep admiration for one another. For the last seven months, the two have been working on establishing a formidable friendship, being great parents to their son, and remaining great supporters of each other's careers,” a representative told AllHipHop.com. “The couple has asked that their privacy be respected at this time." Despite a looming divorce, the pair will move forward with their entrepreneurial and musical efforts.Swizz is presently working on a follow-up album to his 2007 sophomore CD, One Man Band Man. Mashonda is expected to launch an upscale swimwear line, a new venture in music, and hopes to found an arts-based school for children.

“I’m thanking the earth and the sun for everything that we have–so I watered my orchids today,” explained Julie Gilhart, who was a vision of spring Tuesday evening. The ever-chic Barneys fashion director wore Loomstate at the second celebration of the retailer’s partnership with the Sundance Channel for the “Tune In, Turn On, Drop Off” Earth Day celebration. Though the store has been on an eco-chic trajectory for the past year, Barneys celebrated the occasion with a bash. Loomstate’s Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn asked partygoers to donate their old t-shirts, so they can refashion them into Barneys merchandise for the holiday season while Kate Nash, in vintage, thrilled guests with a special performance that took place late into the evening. “It’s like an artist who has no idea what his medium is,” explained Gregory of the idea. “But I snuck a look, there’s a pair of pajama bottoms in there, what am I gonna do with that?” The new “vintage” tees will be available in December, but a price point has yet to be set. Tracee Ellis Ross plans to bring her used shirts to Barneys’ Los Angeles outpost. “I don’t have my surplus here since I couldn’t bring them with me on the plane, but I will definitely drop them off,” she said. “I support anything that celebrates and reminds people to do their part!”

Rapper Kanye West and his fiancée of a year and a half, designer Alexis Phifer have broken off their engagement, Phifer confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. "It's always sad when things like this end, and we remain friends,” Phifer tells PEOPLE. "I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He's one of the most talented people I've ever met." Phifer was spotted on the red carpet sans her engagement ring at an "Evenings in Vogue" event on Thursday night in New York, where her clothing line, Ghita, was featured. "They'd been having problems," a pal of West's says. "Kanye is really focused on his show; he's putting everything into the show right now. Alexis is a nice girl, but Kanye has been going through a rough time. They hit a rough patch and for now they've split."According to the friend, Phifer and West, both 30, had been spending less time together in the last few weeks as the Grammy-winning star prepared for his nationwide "Glow in the Dark" tour. "I haven't seen [Alexis] around at all the last few times I’ve seen him recently," the friend added. The couple, who have dated on and off since 2002, got engaged over a lobster and pasta dinner during a vacation on the island of Capri in August 2006. A rep for West, currently on tour, had no comment.

Varvatos Rocks The Bowery

(NEW YORK) Rock stars took to the stage again Thursday night to celebrate the John Varvatos takeover of the former CBGB site on the Bowery, though conversations kept flowing about how much the location still resembled the former rock club. It was like a flashback, with performances by Joan Jett, D-Generation, Slash, and Jesse Malin as revelers, including Mick Rock and Randy Jones sipped Corzo Tequila margaritas while rocking out in rock 'n' roll's newest fashion home.
Varvatos, beaming with pride, was quick to explain his plans for the store, saying, "I don't want it to be that fashion-y. It just wouldn't be the neighborhood anymore." He added that he has no plans to ever hold a runway show in the space and that he kept the décor so close to old school perfection that seasoned rockers couldn't complain. "All the bands come in here and are like, 'It feels great!' We tried to keep it very rock 'n' roll." Varvatos took the stage to emcee the evening, explaining that the event was benefiting VH1's Save the Music and that Sirius Radio was broadcasting live. He also gave a special shout out to his wife Joyce, saying, "It's my wife's birthday! She's spending her [cough] 25th birthday in here with us tonight!"
Expectedly, a few protesters just couldn't stay away, holding neon signs that read, "$1,600 used jackets destroy communities" and "One small space, one giant loss for music."
Nevertheless, the party raged on. And though it wasn't exactly his genre of music, hip-hop impresario Damon Dash stopped by to show his support, explaining, "It's a huge movement! I'm here to check it out." The fact that it was an event to help budding musicians slipped his mind as he looked on in amazement at all the unfamiliar faces...but quickly recovered. "Really? That's perfect for John. Gold!" Damien Fahey, clearly rocking the Varvatos threads, succinctly explained the opinion of many a guest. "It's just so well preserved with the stage and all!" he exclaimed. "At least it's not a Starbucks!"

I know I'm late but I threw the idea back and forth on whether I should really waste my time and blog about it but... it's official... Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Beyoncé Knowles are officially married. They had a private wedding on April 4th @ his TriBeca home. It was a quiet and intimate party that only included family and very close friends. I mean I ♥ the both of them but I don't understand why everybody is making such a big deal about it. I'm like really, they've been together for a while now so it was only natural that they lock it down and make it official. But I will say CONGRATULATIONS on their union and double congrats to my boy Jay who's not only co-headlining one of the best tours, Heart of the City, but who just signed a terrific deal with Live Nation. The boy's on fire and cannot be stopped & him marrying "the hottest chick in the game" only made the flames brighter.

Gucci's Got A New Man

(NEW YORK) Alicia Keys has Armani, Jennifer Lopez and the Spice Girls depend on Cavalli, but for Lenny Kravitz, Gucci will do just fine. Gucci's Frida Giannini outfitted the rocker for the opening show of his "Love Revolution" European tour in Vigo, Spain, on May 29. Kravitz will receive 20 full looks, not to mention a handful of separates, which is plenty to last him through two years of gigs. Fortunately for the trendsetting musician, Giannini's wares encompass everything a respectable music icon requires--think body-hugging pants, oversized belt buckles, and extremely fitted jackets. Like Giannini, whose fall collection was widely praised, Kravitz is also on a career high. His new album "It's Time for a Love Revolution" has been critically regarded as his best yet.

LV Channels CHINATOWN for BK Ball

(NEW YORK) Somewhere in Manhattan, George Clooney was turning on the charm for the premiere of his new football movie, Leatherheads, but last night, the whole of New York City's creative energy felt as if it had migrated across the East River to The Brooklyn Museum's Brooklyn Ball benefit and opening of the exhibition ©Murakami. It features the work of controversial Japanese pop artist (and designer of those fun, bright monogrammed Louis Vuitton bags) Takashi Murakami, who, clad in a Brooks Brothers suit and tie, Ben Sherman shirt, and Vuitton sneakers, brought along Chiho Aoshima, his sponsored artist, who, much to the amusement of the artist, was dressed as a Richard Prince nurse. Even a crew of protesters--there to rag on honoree Bruce Ratner, the man behind the Atlantic Yards project that will bring the Nets to Brooklyn--was interested in the fuss.
The big buzz prior to the exhibition had been the inclusion of a functional Louis Vuitton boutique selling Murakami handbags, wallets, and key chains. "I consider it performance art!" said Murakami booster and collaborator Marc Jacobs. "This entire night is about perversity and irony, and I like that." Once inside, though, the store seemed rather tame--in fact, exactly like an LV counter one might find in Saks. "I thought that the store was quiet and conventional," said Frank Gehry afterwards. "He should have made it something more over the top." More surprising--even to the artist himself, who didn't know it was being set up--was the amusing faux Chinatown the museum had set up outside on the ground level, replete with 10 vendors selling real multicolored Murakami bags to guests as they walked in. "I just bought a camera case!" Kanye West's manager, Don C, boasted of his new purchase. Bargaining was even encouraged, just like on Canal Street. But not many attendees seemed very game. "I don't wear purses and I'm not a good bargainer," said Stefano Tonchi. "I either pay or I don't pay." Linda Evangelista also took it in stride. "The bazaar was a good idea," she said. "But it's a little creepy how they accost you."
After checking out the goods, guests, including Eva Herzigova (who shot the Vuitton fall campaign earlier that day), Bernard Arnault, Anthony Goicolea, Julian Schnabel, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, Terrence Koh, Jeffrey Deitch, Nicole Miller, Amalia Dayan and Adam Lindemann grabbed cocktails and wandered through room after room--after room--all awash in Murakami's exceedingly bright wall coverings and multi-colored canvases, covered in anime-inspired cartoon eyes, skulls, and flowers with happy faces. Those who knew what to expect came dressed to blend in: Jacobs in a bright green suit from Comme des Garçons ("I didn't have any winter clothes," he shrugged); Tinsley Mortimer in a loud flow-y frock she'd bought off the rack at Intermix. Selita Ebank's attempt to go arty? Cotton candy patent-leather Christian Louboutins and glittery eyes, with a muted dress. "I wish I was more adventurous," she said. "But I don't want to be on the 'What was she thinking?' list."
Even more dominant than the colors, though, were the two giant sculptures of a female and male anime superhero, the female showing off positively enormous breasts. Ebanks said they inspired her inner feminist. "I think it's very empowering to women," she said. "Okay, their boobs are huge. But they're superheroes." But like most men that night, John McEnroe admitted that he'd "gravitated" toward the sculptures for perhaps more prurient reasons. Were our heroine's, um, attributes a factor? "Maybe," he said, then paused and hung his head. "Yeah." Also a fan: Kanye West. After guests shuffled downstairs to a seated dinner featuring Nobu-prepared dishes like miso filet of beef and wasabi mashed potatoes, he told the crowd about collaborating with Murakami for the designs of his Graduation album cover and the anime sequences in his "Stronger" video. "We were coming up with all these designs, and I'd draw big breasts on women," he recounted. "Murakami would say, 'You like big tits!'"
But downstairs, away from the wildness of the exhibition, the night proceeded as most galas do. Expected celebrity guests Liv Tyler and Maggie Gyllenhaal were no-shows, as was Jay-Z, but Harry Morton and Larry Gagosian did make the rounds with a fur-clad Eva Herzigova while Jacobs and Anna Wintour entered into deep conversation and Glenda Bailey sat back admiring the black, eyeball-covered globes hanging from the ceiling. Kristin Davis, proud owner of two Murakami pieces, admired the man from afar ("He's so adorable! Adorable!"), but nearly wouldn't let Louis Vuitton chief Yves Carcelle introduce her to him. "I get so nervous meeting someone I admire," she professed. But when the time came, she blushed--and gushed-appropriately. "I just bought two of your silk screens for my house! I have the flower one over my desk!" she exclaimed. "I feel so happy to have you in my home." Also a proud Murakami owner? Larry Gagosian, who snatched up a canvas covered in the new monogramouflage and hand-painted skulls for $65,000 during the live auction portion of the night. Upon winning the bid, he threw his hands in the air and pumped his fists joyously, then whispered, "I have no idea what I just bought."
As the auction ended and the desserts were finally cleared away at 10:30 p.m., the room grew frenzied with activity. Much like with the exhibit's opening last year at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the specially-made Murakami place mats were the item to pilfer, and if one didn't grab onto one's own, it was quickly snatched away, most likely for later sale on eBay. Tim Schifter, Thelma Golden, and Jennifer Creel were all spotted later at the event-ending Kanye West concert clutching their plates tightly to their chests. And when West's blistering set of his greatest hits--"Diamonds are Forever," "Gold Digger," and "Touch The Sky"--was over, Creel had earned another prize: a white knit cap.
"Kanye gave it to her!" Helen Schifter exclaimed. But Creel was more coy. "He did, but I can't tell you the story."

Beyoncé and Jay-Z arrived at Scarsdale Village Hall shortly after it opened at 9 a.m on Tuesday to get their marriage license. "It was just the two of them," an eyewitness tells PEOPLE. "They were very polite and smiling as they filled out the paperwork. They were holding hands for a while. They looked really happy." Could their happiness be because the longtime couple is finally putting the constant wedding and split rumors to rest? Although a rep for Beyoncé, 26, had no comment and a rep for Jay-Z, 38, could not be reached, the courthouse trip is the first real indication that the pair – who first started dating in 2002 – will walk down the aisle. Rumors of a wedding have long followed the couple, and Beyoncé has admitted to thinking about how it would happen. "I don't know when I'll want to get married," she told Cosmopolitan in January 2006. "I never pictured myself as a bride, but after my sister's wedding, I did start thinking about what kind of wedding I'd want. I don't think I want a big one." A year later, she told InStyle, "Maybe me and my man will go away to an island; maybe we'll go to a church. I have no idea."

Dubbed Blason--- "coat of arms" in French --- the line features avant garde styles that incorporate themes of music and above all else expensive materials such as diamonds and gold. The price tags are not for the faint of heart, ranging from $2,070 to $621,000 USD. "It's a costly habit of mine," Williams told WWD of his carat addiction. "It's fun to do it on Louis Vuitton's dime for once."

(NEW YORK) Amy Winehouse's fashion stock is growing exponentially by the week. After serving as Karl Lagerfeld's muse at Chanel and songstress for Fendi's fashion week bash--and high on the heels of talk of her performing at the Met's Costume Institute gala next month--British reports over the weekend have the petite crooner being courted now by none other than Roberto Cavalli. Specifically, Winehouse wasn't asked to be the face of Cavalli's campaign; rather, the designer was said to simply have offered her the opportunity to wear his designs exclusively for her red carpet appearances and performances. The interest grew, in part, due to Cavalli enthusiast Victoria Beckham, who was said to have commented that Winehouse would be a fitting choice. Cavalli's office was unavailable for comment, but hey, it's certainly better to be in fashion than in rehab.

As if Pete Wentz designing a line for Nordstrom wasn't a big enough drab, his girlfriend, Ashlee Simpson, whom I usually like, is jumping on the band wagon. She's inked a deal of her own with Wet Seal. The line will launch in conjunction with her new LP, Bittersweet World, on April 22nd. Good deal for her but honestly, I don't think she's that much of a trendinista to actually design a hand rag, much less a collection of shirts. It's not that I'm hating on her because like I said before, I like Ashlee, honestly a little more than her sister, but I'm just saying. According to Business Wire:
